Description

This is a part-time position that will perform testing on an as needed basis throughout the year. 

 

Required Qualifications include:

Certification/licensure as either a School Psychologist, School Counselor or Gifted Teacher 

School Psychological Examiner Certification 

 

Purpose Statement

The job of Gifted Education Examiner - Seasonal is done for the purpose/s of conducting ability assessments on students who have been referred for gifted services and being instrumental in implementing alternative identification processes for under-represented populations.

 

This job reports to the Director of Special Programs.

 

Essential Functions

  • Administers screening and identification assessments (e.g. WISC-V, Stanford-Binet and WJ-IV Cognitive, etc.) for the purpose of identifying students who may need gifted services.
  • Collaborates with gifted specialists across the district for the purpose of screening and identifying students who may need gifted services.
  • Collects information for student portfolios for the purpose of identifying alternative measures.
  • Understands gifted characteristics in children from under-represented populations for the purpose of identifying students who may need gifted services.
  • Works closely with gifted specialists and administrators in gathering student information for the purpose of meeting the program's goals and objectives.

Other Functions

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: demonstrating outstanding writing and public speaking skills, working with district staff on issues related to advanced learners and keeping informed on education innovations and trends as they relate to the instructional area.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: having knowledge of gifted and special programs, knowledge of services and curriculum implementation and a good understanding of curriculum and elementary/secondary educational goals and objectives.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: possess excellent organizational and planning abilities, ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, recognize the importance of safety in the workplace and maintain and prioritize multiple tasks.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

 

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

 

Experience:  Job related experience within a specialized field is required. 

Education:    Masters degree in job-related area.
